Activision denies Call of Duty renegotiations

Activision has denied rumours that Infinity Ward has moved to take control of the entire Call of Duty series, prompting contract renegotiations.

A spokesperson for the publisher told our sister site Eurogamer.net that the rumour was a total fabrication, and that Treyarch and Infinity Ward would still alternately create installments in the series.

The rumours apparently came from an ex-Activision Underground employee who claimed that the development studio was closed as a result of COD contract renegotiations.

This unnamed source said that Underground was making a third-person Call of Duty spin-off at the time of the studio's closure.

The recently-released Call of Duty 4 Variety Map Pack set a new record for the most downloaded paid-for content on Xbox Live - over one million people downloaded the map pack in a mere nine days.
