Genshin Impact wins iPhone Game of the Year

RAC7's Sneaky Sasquatch was named Apple Arcade Game of 2020

Apple unveiled its list of the best apps and games of 2020, with MiHoYo's Genshin Impact being named iPhone Game of the Year.

Riot Games' Legends of Runeterra won iPad Game of the Year, while ZA/UM's hit Disco Elysium was named Mac Game of the Year.

RAC7's Sneaky Sasquatch was the first recipient of the Apple Arcade Game of the Year prize. Finally, Raw Fury's Dandara Trials of Fear won Apple TV Game of the Year.

Outside of the games category, Niantic's Pokémon GO won the App Trend of the Year recognition, for "reinventing the way we play." The title underwent several changes back in March to adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing people to easily play from home. These changes saw the game's revenue spike, and Niantic decided to make some of them permanent in September.

In addition to the App Store Best winners, Apple released charts for the top games of the year. Unsurprisingly, Among Us topped the charts for both free iPhone and iPad games, while Football Manager 2020 Mobile took No.1 in the paid games category. Minecraft was the top paid iPad game of 2020.

Google had its own annual awards yesterday, with Genshin Impact named Best Game of the year.
