Image & Form and Zoink merge to form new games label

Thunderful will act as the parent company for the SteamWorld and Fe creators

Swedish game developers Image & Form and Zoink have merged together under a new parent company.

The founders of both studios Brjann Sigurgeirsson (Image & Form) and Klaus Lyngeled (Zoink) have cratered Thunderful. The two companies have collaborated in numerous ways already, including sharing of information, plus additional PR and marketing support. Now the two businesses are formalising the relationship and looking to move into a joint office. However, both studios will continue to operate under their individual names for now.

Thunderful will now have 46 employees, who are currently working on nine different projects. Both studios have sold a combined two million games sold, with six million downloads.

"We already work together on a daily basis in PR, marketing, intelligence and publishing," said Brjann Sigurgeirsson, CEO of Image & Form and CEO of Thunderful. "Image & Form and Zoink will continue to produce games like we always do, but we're now formalizing our close relationship. Through Thunderful we can share resources more effectively, officially act together and launch bigger, more ambitious game projects. We're becoming a real powerhouse."

Zoink CEO and Thunderful Chief Creative Officer Klaus Lyngeled added: "Brjann and I already exchange very much information, so this development is natural. With a group of close to 50 people we'll grow our clout both nationally and internationally."

Image & Form is best known for its SteamWorld Dig series, while Zoink is currently teaming up with EA on the release of Fe next month.

A third partner in Thunderful is Bergsala Holding, a game distributor in the Nordic region.
