Awesome Games Done Quick raises $2.26m for The Prevent Cancer Foundation

Speed-running charity marathon edges past previous record

Awesome Games Done Quick has raised a record-breaking $2.26 million for charity with its latest fundraising endeavour, just edging out the previous record of $2.21 million.

The speed-running charity drive has been a huge success since its inception in 2010. All proceeds from the latest event will go towards The Prevent Cancer Foundation, one of America's leading voluntary health organisations.

Around 150 speedrunners took part in the seven-day-long extravaganza, displaying remarkable feats of skill and intimate game knowledge.

From completing the notoriously bad Superman 64 in a mere 36 minutes, to beating every boss in Bloodborne just over an hour and a half, the list of breezily bested games is long and impressive.

The week kicked off with a run of Crash Bandicoot 3 and culminated with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with the latter speed-run raising over $450,000 alone.

Awesome Games Done Quick has already announced its next marathon, Summer Games Done Quick, scheduled to take place between June 24 and July 1.
