GSN CEO stepping down

David Goldhill leaving company later this year, but not before finding new leadership for the company's TV and games businesses

GSN CEO David Goldhill today announced that he will be leaving the company later this year. The Sony Pictures and AT&T Entertainment-owned television network and social casino publisher has already begun its search for a new CEO, but Goldhill said he would be sticking around to assist with that endeavor before departing.

"After 10 years as CEO of GSN, I have informed our Board that I will be stepping down this year," Goldhill said. "I am working with our shareholders to identify new leadership for both our television and games businesses, and will be fully engaged in managing both businesses until new executives are in place.

"I am very proud of all that has been accomplished in the past ten years, and believe as strongly as ever in our extraordinary opportunity for growth and innovation in both television and games."

The change in leadership comes amidst efforts by GSN Games to expand beyond the social casino market in recent years. For example, former PopCap and Xbox Live veteran Greg Canessa has been heading up the company's Skill Games Studio and working on Sparcade, an eSports platform for mobile games allowing users to compete for fun or money in games like Tetris, Pac-Man, or Scrabble.
