Former Harmonix COO becomes head of third party relations for PlayStation America

Florian Hunziker will focus on both indie games and big publisher deals

Former Harmonix COO and EA business director Florian Hunziker has been named PlayStation America's new VP of Third Party Relations and Developer Technology Group.

In an email sent to partners, Sony describe him as a 'passionate gamer and a strong leader' and he will report into Phillip Rosenberg, who is the global head of partner and developer relations.

He replaces Adam Boyes, who left PlayStation to re-enter games development himself in the summer last year. Boyes signed big name titles including The Witness for the platform holder.

In an interview with Gamesbeat, Hunziker said that the company will continue mixing big publisher deals with support for small, indie studios.

"Our fans can expect us to continue to focus on indie games and unique partnerships," he said.

"PlayStation has done a great job bringing diverse content to the platform and I want to continue that focus whether the games are from indies or publishers. Having worked on both the publishing and development side in my career, I know that exclusivity is a polarizing topic in the game industry. However, I also understand that there's a great deal of creative innovation that would never happen without a first party taking on significant financial responsibility. I'm fired up to be joining a company that's not afraid to take these risks and bring compelling IPs to market."
