Nazara Games takes minority stake in TrulySocial

London-based developer will work with Nazara to take its new game to the female audience in India

The Indian publisher Nazara Games has joined London Venture Partners and Supercell's Drussila Hollanda-Grönberg as an investor in the casual studio, TrulySocial.

Nazara's will take a minority stake in TrulySocial, a London-based company founded by Salone Sehgal and Sebastian Coman in 2011. The investment arrives as TrulySocial winds up development on its new mobile game, HUGS, which combines, "dress-up, fashion and celebrity content," with a, "narrative centered on dating and building romantic relationships."

In a statement released today, Supercell game lead Drussila Hollanda-Grönberg emphasised TrulySocial's, "commitment to the female players," through innovative gameplay mechanics. Nazara CEO Manish Agarwal echoed those sentiments, highlighting the opportunity to introduce a new style of games to the burgeoning Indian market.

"We plan to bring new, innovative and delightful content for the Indian gaming audience," he said. "We believe in the team's idea of 'not just making a game but changing gaming' is what excites us and motivates us to making this investment."

Salone Sehgal, CEO and co-founder of TrulySocial, welcomed the chance to gain a foothold in the Indian market from day one. "The investment and marketing partnership with Nazara secures distribution for our localised game," she said, while also mentioning Nazara's track record of working with Indian brands and celebrities.
