Nintendo UK expands marketing and comms team

Matthias Hempfling and Kalpesh Tailor both take senior roles as they join from Frankfurt office

Nintendo UK has made two major additions to its team, adding Matthias Hempfling as marketing and PR director, and Kalpesh Tailor as head of communications.

Both Hempfling and Tailor have moved to the UK from Nintendo of Europe's office in Frankfurt, Germany. Hempfling previously held the title of senior European marketing manager, and he will now lead a team of 12 people and oversee Nintendo UK's marketing strategy and all of its campaigns. He will report to Nintendo UK general manager, Simon Kemp.

Tailor, who will report to Hempfling, is returning to Nintendo UK after working as senior European PR manager in Frankfurt. His new role, head of communications, has been expanded to encompass all PR, social media and communications activities in the UK.

Together, Hempfling and Tailor have 20 years of experience at Nintendo, including the product launches for the Wii, Wii U, 3DS and Amiibo. They arrive just ahead of the launch of Miitomo in the UK and Ireland on March 31, the same day that Nintendo's first mobile product launches in the US.

"With 2016 off to a dynamic start, we are delighted to have Matthias and Kalpesh join the UK team," said Simon Kemp in a statement. "Each brings not only an array of marketing and communications experience and Nintendo knowledge, but offer a fresh perspective on the UK market."
