Both PC and Mobile sectors performing for Korean firm

Nexon has reported above expected revenues and profits for the third quarter, with both its PC and mobile gaming sectors showing growth year-on-year.

Sales of 49.8 billion yen were up nine per cent over the same quarter last year, exceeding expectations, which pushed operating income up 22 per cent to 18.4 billion yen and net income up by a huge 41 per cent year-on-year to 19.2 billion yen - both above the company's high-end forecasts. Mobile revenues climbed seven per cent and PC revenues by ten per cent.

"Our focus on quality content and world-class partnerships continues to pay off, as we delivered solid third quarter results, beating our guidance on all metrics, and announcing several strategic partnerships" said CEO and president Owen Mahoney.

"In Asia, we continued to see solid execution of our staple PC online titles in Korea and China, and our release of the mobile title DomiNations in the regions is already showing promising traction, particularly in Korea. We also entered into a publishing agreement with Korean game developer Bluehole Studio for a new mobile game based on TERA. In North America, we entered into a two exciting new partnership agreements - one with Respawn Entertainment and game developer Particle City for new mobile games based on the hit Titanfall IP, and one with QC Games, a new game development studio led by industry veteran Dallas Dickinson, for distribution rights of their first games."
