Nintendo Direct will continue, says platform holder

Who will present them is as yet undecided

Nintendo has confirmed that its popular Nintendo Direct broadcasts will continue, although it is as yet unknown who'll be fronting them after the sad passing of regular host and Nintendo President Satoru Iwata earlier this year.

Speaking to IGN, the publisher said that there were no plans to abandon the format, which has proven extremely popular with fans for its light hearted and engaging approach.

"Nintendo Directs will continue," said a Nintendo spokesperson, "but we have no details to provide now on who will be featured or the topics that will be covered."

It does seem unlikely that the company's new president, Tatsumi Kimishima, will be continuing the tradition of his predecessor. Whilst he is expected to develop Iwata's vision for the firm along similar lines, he's not quite as publicly gregarious as his former boss. For a better understanding of what he might bring to Nintendo, read our in-depth profile, here.
