ESL UK appoints new co-managing director

Esports company hires Spike Laurie from Warner Bros.

Esports company ESL has appointed Spike Laurie as co-managing director of ESL UK, alongside James Dean. Laurie was previously international retention and engagement manager at Warner Bros.

"It's a huge privilege to be joining ESL: the company that's setting the global gold standard for esports competition and entertainment," he said.

"To make the most of this great opportunity, my focus will be on expanding the company's already impressive impact in the fast growing UK market, and through strategic international executions."

Laurie spent close to three years with Warner Bros, in his new role he'll focus on international business for ESL UK.

"It has proven to be a tough task to find the right person for the role," added Dean.

"I've worked on many campaigns with Spike during his time at Warner Bros. He has a fantastic vision for marketing and delivers superb user experiences. The fit couldn't be better for UK esports and the growth of ESL's UK office."

ESL has offices in Germany, UK, Russia, France, Poland, Spain, China, Australia and North America and is known for its large and high profile esports tournaments. Last months it Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event attracted over 11,000 visitors to its venue in Germany and over 27 million unique viewers on Twitch.
