Cubic Motion makes Wood executive chairman

"The key to world beating facial animation in games is the use of specialists"

Facial animation specialist Cubic Motion has appointed one of its key advisers, Andy Wood, as executive chairman.

"Andy, alongside our other expert advisers, has played an important role in Cubic Motion's success so far," said CEO Dr Gareth Edwards.

"The next year promises incredible growth and some very exciting strategic announcements that will further change the way game developers, filmmakers, and TV producers think about facial animation. With Andy fully involved in the executive team, we feel better placed than ever to deliver on our ambitious expansion plans."

Wood was one of founding committee members of UKIE and has served on Cubic Motion's board as chairman since 2009.

"I've known the founders and management of Cubic Motion over a decade. I'm honoured to be asked to participate at this level. I've spent my working life involved at the cutting edge of video games, animation, music and digital technology alongside many celebrated and creative thinkers," said Wood.

"The key to world beating facial animation in games is the use of specialists. Developers need to get serious - there's simply no other way to satisfy the growing consumer expectations."

Cubic Motion's expertise have been used in titles like Call of Duty:Advanced Warfare, Ryse, UFC, Battlefield 4, Halo 4 Spartan Ops and Shadow of Mordor.
