Quantic Dream boss re-elected as EGDF president

Guillaume de Fondaumiere will continue to lead while Hendrik Lesser has been elected vice president

The European Game Developer Federation (EGDF) has announced its board election results for the 2014-15 year. Current president and Quantic Dream CEO Guillaume de Fondaumiere has been re-elected to the role, and Hendrik Lesser, the representative of the German association GAME, was elected vice president. Lesser is best known for his work on Angry Birds Epic.

Other results from the election include KooPee Hiltunen, representative of the Finnish association Suomen pelinkehittäjät ry and Klaus Hansen, representative of the Danish association Producentforeningen, remaining on the board, along with Dr. Richard Wilson, the CEO of TIGA in the U.K.

De Fondaumière commented, "During the past twelve months, the EGDF has become increasingly central as a lobbying organisation for European game developers. The EGDF has successfully tackled a number of issues that are highly important for the whole European game development community. We have secured a development support fund dedicated to video games from the Creative Europe programme, contributed strongly in the implementation of the new VAT system for digital goods and services in Europe and been deeply involved in the debate over the implementation of the consumer protection regulation on the free-to-play business model. We also joined the board of the PEGI ratings system."

Lesser added, "Beyond the subject matters already on the table, during the upcoming 12 months, EGDF will focus on such as building a coherent copyright regulation for the European single market area, supporting its members on building state aid schemes for game development on national levels as well as ensuring that the free trade agreement between the USA and the EU has no negative side-effects on the growth of the European studios, in particular when it comes to patents."

The EGDF represents more than 600 studios across Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Spain, and the United Kingdom. It also just welcomed the Swedish developer association Spelplan-AVGD to its ranks.
