Xbox behemoth ousted from number one by The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Activision Blizzard's The Amazing Spiderman 2 unseated Titanfall from its place at the top of the UK charts.

Despite selling 5 per cent fewer copies in its debut week than its predecessor in 2012, The Amazing Spiderman 2 - developed by Beenox - still entered the chart one position higher. That is largely down to sales of Titanfall, which declined 17 per cent week-on-week, thereby ending its impressive run at the top of the chart.

Other new entries last week included Ubisoft's Child of Light, which entered the chart at 9, and the PC version of Dark Souls II, which pushed Namco Bandai's unforgiving RPG up to 14.

Among the new releases, the underachiever of the week was Mario Golf: World Tour on 3DS, which only managed to enter the chart at 22 despite being on Nintendo's most popular platform.

It's the top charting game with the lowest Metacritic score I can remember. Interesting to see Child of Light in the charts, as far as I see, only the PS3, PS4 and PC versions got a retail box (which doesn't include any physical media, but only an artbook and a download code).

Spiderman isn't terrible but not the best Spiderman game.
Eurogamer gave it a 2/10 which is definitely isn't. To be a 2 the game would really need to be fundamentally broken which it isn't. Deserves at least a 6 maybe a 7 if you are a big Spidey fan.

Guess its why I'm not in game reviewing :)

@Barrie You are correct. The eurogamer reviewer seems to just be trying to court controversy. The game isn't a 2/10 even on it's worst day. I'm actually surprised the EG editor hasn't stepped in to find out where the reviewer managed to come up with that score.

Having said that it definitely shouldn't have knocked Titanfall off no.1 but, then everyone who wanted Titanfall likely has it buy now and it would be interesting to see actual sales numbers.
