Becomes fifth biggest seller of all time in terms of revenue in UK market

Didn't GTA V have to do this because of the doubling of development and marketing costs?

It's so easy to say games 5 years ago sold X less units, when they cost $10 million to bring to market rather than $100 million! I mean, let's face it, Minecraft will probably make more profit for the dev's than GTA V, given it's minimal dev/marketing costs and it's unit sales!

I's not jut games that have become shallow, so have the media, just re-regurgitating developer press releases like this one, that actually mean little!

Great game, and not bad going to surpass lifetime sales of an old, yet still very popular title in just three weeks, especially when you consider that the X360 & PS3 are due to be superseded in less than 8 weeks..

Now R*, get the online fixed! :) as I'm missing slotting / mugging / blowing up and running over my mates online.. :-)

Its just a stat to highlight that as many people who bought a product last time, bought it quicker this time round. In some ways not really a surprise - there is an absence of other high performing games - no competition, consoles are more penetrated than ever before - more players, by all accounts is an excellent game and word of mouth very strong - if you're a console gamer, you probably have to check it out. What I wonder and would love to hear - is piracy being tackled better this time round so that there are fewer free downloaded copies and so people need to buy it?

Right, the fastest selling and highest grossing video game of all time outselling the lifetime sales of its very successful 5 year old predecessor in only 3 weeks "means little." And the budget you pulled out of your ass for GTA IV isn't even close.
