Blizzard reassigns staff, starts over on Titan

Updated: Blizzard's latest MMO isn't expected until 2016, team size reduced to 30

Update: "We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception," Blizzard told Polygon in a statement. "We've come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven't announced any dates for the MMO."

Original story: Sources have told VentureBeat that Blizzard Entertainment has reduced the team working on its new MMO, Titan. The team has reportedly been cut from a former total of 100 developers, with 70 team members being reassigned to other projects.

Titan was expected to debut in 2014, but Blizzard has now gone back to the drawing board on the game with the core team of 30 developers. The reset pushes the game's rumored release date back to 2016 at the earliest.

Blizzard has never given a release date, codename, or planned title for Titan, though it has previously confirmed that it has developers working on "something new." The game has been rumored and hinted at in various interviews as far back as 2007.
