Arkane's latest grabs Best Game award as ThatGameCompany's Journey wins five categories

Like its mask-wearing protagonist, Dishonored came from seemingly nowhere to claim a trophy tonight at the British Academy Game Awards. Despite ThatGameCompany's Journey dominating the show all night long and winning five awards, Dishonored took home the BAFTA for Best Game after falling short in the only two other categories it was nominated.

Journey netted more than a quarter of the awards up for grabs, with wins for Original Music, Artistic Achievement, Game Design, Audio Achievement, and Online Multiplayer. Even beyond Journey, downloadable games dominated the awards all night long. In fact, the only other multiple award winners were also downloadable titles; The Walking Dead won three categories (Story, Performer, and Mobile & Handheld), while The Unfinished Swan took home BAFTAs for Debut Game and Innovation.

After the main awards were all doled out, the BAFTA Fellowship Award was also presented to Valve's Gabe Newell. The ceremony was hosted for the fifth straight year by comedian Dara O'Briain. The full list of nominees and categories follows below; winners are bolded.

Congrats to Arkane! Awesome game. Had been waiting since they had talked about 'Crossplayer'. Looking forward to whatever they do next.

Very congrats to Arkane, I almost forgot why I don't pay any attention to these award ceremonys until I saw Call Of Duty Black Ops 2 - Game Innovation. Then I remembered.

Congratulations to Arkane. I have not played Dishonored myself yet. It came as a surprise somewhat that this won 'Best Game', I just presumed it would be Journey or The Walking Dead, just like they had scooped top honours at all the other awards shows. Refreshing to see something else grab the top prize here.
The low point of the night was when CoD:BO2 was up for the 'Innovation' award... Are you freakin' kidding me?! Think of all the new innovative titles out there across all platforms, yet a game that gets pumped out every year and that has barely changed in the last five years gets shortlisted. Thank Christ it didn't win!!
Congrats to all other winners too. Journey was an awesome game and I still haven't got round to picking up The Unfinished Swan yet. Need to get onto that.

Good to see Dishonored get the award. I thought it was really awesome. My personal GotY would have been Borderlands 2, with Dishonored a very close second. I'd only really give it to BL2 because of the sheer number of hours i've been playing it compared to Dishonored and that was helped by BL2's DLC releases which have all been great.
