BAFTA will be hosting two free workshops for aspiring young game designers at the forthcoming Eurogamer Expo and GamesIndustry International Fair.
The sessions, for 11-16 year-olds, will be hosted by industry professionals including Mark Parry, Senior Designer at SCEE London Studio, Bossa Studios' Mike Bithell and Sophia George of BAFTA winning studio Swallowtail Games.
The first session, on Friday 27 September, is limited to students of four schools: Broadwater School (Godalming, Surrey); Hampton Court House (East Molesey, Surrey); Brentside High School (Hanwell, London) and Winchmore School (Enfield, London).
Saturday's session, running from 11am on the 28th is open to the public. Tickets are available for free for groups of up to three 11-16 year-olds, with a total of thirty tickets to distribute. Children of age 15 and below must be accompanied by an adult, with one free ticket available per group for a guardian.
The workshops will provide a welcome headstart for any bidding designers hoping to enter the BAFTA Young Games Designer competition, entries for which are open until 22 October, 2012. More details on the contest, and booking details for these workshops, are available at the BAFTA website.
The GI Fair will be running alongside the Eurogamer Expo at Earls Court One from September 27-30. Alongside the usual career show and panel sessions, the event will host the UKIE AGM, BAFTA career surgeries and Games Invest. More details available here.
