Timesplitters 4 "not in development" at Crytek UK

The former Free Radical has confirmed that another Timesplitters is not in development

Despite rumors, Crytek UK has confirmed to CVG that a Timesplitters sequel is not in development. The title is possibly the most anticipated from the team, which is currently hard at work on Homefront 2.

"No, it's not in development," said a Crytek spokeperson when asked. This serious reply followed one that fit the humor expected from the team that brought us TimeSplitters.

"For Timesplitters 4, with ever spiralling development costs, massive teams and endless crunch we decided on a more radical development strategy," began the tongue-in-cheek statement.

"In short, the experiment was to implement the infinite monkey theorem. With cloning being a far too expensive option, we spent all of the development budget on buying monkeys on the black market. Those seven monkeys are now sat in a room with typewriters and lots of mirrors, and we fully expect Timesplitters 4 to be finished soon. Rumours are that they haven't written any code but just tease the press from time to time. Those damn monkeys."

GamesIndustry International recently spoke with Free Radical Design co-founder Steve Ellis on how the studio ended up becoming Crytek UK.
