Official UK retailer for 3DS title Heroes Of Ruin

There are signs of recovery at high street retailer GAME, as it announced it has the exclusive UK retail rights to new Square Enix title Heroes Of Ruin.

The 3DS game is due for release on June 15, and will only be available at GAME priced at £34.99.

The retailer also recently secured the exclusive rights to a special edition of Assassin's Creed III, which comes with a bonus mission and weapons.

Play.com is currently still listing Heroes Of Ruin for pre-order at £24.99.

Oh for the love of God.

Why? Exclusives are just a bitch for the consumer to deal with. "Oh, yey, I get to buy AC3 from a retailer who's more expensive than my preferred, because otherwise there's no way to get this mission".

Yeah, thanks publishers. :/

I'm pretty annoyed about this. Although it might be a feather in the cap for GAME I can't help but feel that it will do the sales damage.

It's a pretty unknown franchise with a gameplay mechanic that shows its colours best when lots of people play it in coop. How is limiting the retail outlet a good thing?

It wouldn't bother me too much if it was an exclusive (even if it is dumb), but the fact that it will be priced at £35 at launch is stupid. 3DS games should be £30 tops at release.

Maybe it's expensive due to the fact that they'll lose sales for it being exclusive to one retailer, and they have to make up the short-fall?

Also, exclusive = lack of competition = lack of competitive pricing = more second-hand sales due to people not wanting to pay so much.

Well done GAME on showing exactly why you went into administration to begin with. Bravo.

I have to say, I'm now actively avoiding buying from Game, due to this exclusivity deal. It's bad for everyone, except (possibly) Game, and I don't care about them.
