Toy manufacturer acquires 50 per cent of PC developer
Cybergun reported to have paid $25 million for stake
Cybergun, a French manufacturer of toy weaponry, has bought a 50 per cent stake in War Inc. Battlezone developer Online Warmongers.
Sources atGamesBeat suggested that Cybergun paid around $25 million in the deal.
"This strategic investment is a great opportunity not only for the activity of Cybergun Video Games, but also for the sale of retail products'"," said a Cybergun statement.
In April Cybergun announced its shareholders had approved a merger with video game production studio Interactive Game Group.
Online Warmongers is based in California and was founded in 2009 by Sergey Titov, previously of Riot games, and Matt Candler, who was previously VP of interactive with Paramount Pictures Digital Entertainment. The company is funded by the Arktos Entertainment Group.
War Inc. Battlezone is a third person shooter. It was one of the free to play titles recently added to the Steam platform.
