Xbox Live gets expanded PayPal options

New update also introduces standby mode for idle consoles

Microsoft is expanding its PayPal options on Xbox Live, allowing international users to pay for items via the service instead of using Microsoft Points.

Previously the service was only available for purchases via Xbox.com, and although an international move, some regions such as Brazil, Czech Republic, Greece, India, Japan and Russia will not supported.

The latest Xbox 360 system update, which begins rolling out today, also introduces an automatic standby option to power down the console if it remains idle for more than an hour.
