UKIE sponsors Digital Shoreditch Festival

May event to highlight more than 500 London companies and organisations

British trade body UKIE has provided sponsorship for the Digital Shoreditch Festival, with the event set to involve many of the area's more than 500 digital companies - including founder PlayGen.

Due to take place from May 3 to 7, the event aims to be a "digital playground" featuring open houses, large-scale projections, interactive artworks, augmented reality games, and late night parties provided by the local community of digital businesses.

The festival will culminate in a one day summit with input from companies including festival founders PlayGen, London Metropolitan University, Less Rain, Albion, and Intro.

There will also be a family day with "digital interactives, installations and artwork", and a 3D printing conference and exhibition entitled Thingmakers.

The SCAMP conference, hosted by SheSays, will examine how digital businesses are influencing other creative industries, with speakers including designers, artists, educators, advertisers, and technologists.

"The digital creative community in and around the Shoreditch area is home to many game developers producing new, innovative interactive entertainment products – not least festival founder PlayGen," said UKIE director general Michael Rawlinson.

"There is the potential for exciting connections to be made between up and coming digital creatives who produce interactive entertainment and more established developers and publishers," he added.

Tickets are available via the official website, with UKIE members able to claim a 10 per cent discount from the UKIE website.
