Rare hires new senior studio director
Sumo Digital and Codemasters veteran Craig Duncan joins Kinect Sports developer
Microsoft-owned studio Rare has announced the appointment of Craig Duncan as senior studio director, putting him in charge of all aspects of product development and staff management.
Duncan's most recent role was at Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing developer Sumo Digital. He started his games career working on titles including Overlord, Rise of the Argonauts, Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Colin McRae Rally 04 for Codemasters.
After leaving Codemasters in 2008 Duncan took the role of studio head at Wheelman developer Midway Games - Newcastle, moving to Sumo Digital after the studio was closed following the collapse of the US parent company.
"Craig joins us at an exciting time and his experience will be key to ensuring that Rare continues to create innovative, industry-leading products which delight and entertain," said Rare studio manager Scott Henson.
"I'm thrilled to be taking on this leadership role at Rare; It is a studio with a great heritage and a consistent track record of creative innovation within Microsoft Game Studios," said Duncan.
"I'm looking forward to working with the exceptional talent at Rare to create amazing games that will see Rare establish its position as one of the world's top game studios."
