Q4 growth driven by smartphone success worldwide as company takes €39.7m

Publisher GameLoft has posted financials for the fourth quarter of 2010 showing a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in sales to €39.7 million (£34m) from €31.8 million for the same quarter in 2009.

The report shows continued, rapid growth for the download company, which posted a 15 per cent year-on-year growth for the second and third quarters of last year.

An eight per cent growth in Q1, 2010 means that overall the company revenues grew by 16 per cent last year as a whole, a figure adjusted to 13 per cent on a constant exchange rate basis. Overall, GameLoft took €141 million (£120.85m) in sales over 2010.

The growth was largely fuelled by increased sales from developing countries and an increasing penetration of the smartphone market. Europe made up 36 per cent of sales, North America 29 per cent and the rest of the world 35 per cent. Sales on iPhone and iPad rose by 63 per cent over the course of the year.

It's not only on mobile that the company plans on extending its influence, however, earlier this year CEO Michel Guillemot announced at CES that GameLoft had struck a deal with Panasonic to provide games for the company's new range of IPTVs.

A full disclosure of the company's financial report will be published on March 23, 2011 when the US market closes.
