Arkane Studios, the developer behind Dark Messiah and now owned by Zenimax Media, has released the source code for well-received 2002 PC and Xbox RPG Arx Fatalis, as well as patching the title for Windows Vista and 7.

The source code reveal doesn't mean that the game is free, it's still available to buy from Steam, Direct2Drive and GoG, but owners will now be able to work within the engine to create new campaigns and assets for the game.

The downloads are available from Arkane's website now.
