Build a custom home-enhancing netbook app for the chance to win $15,000

The Intel AppUpM developer program has partnered with UK-based Dixons Retail PLC in the search for a netbook app that enables users to creatively interact with products from one or more online retail sites - Dixons, Currys and PC World - in a home context.

The app could be anything - a game, a 3D design tool, maybe even something incorporating augmented reality. The winning app will be judged on how well it engages users and on the level of interaction it creates with these stores' products.

Call for Abstracts – Deadline December 15, 2010

Does your app idea have what it takes to take the top prize? Fortunately you don't have build your complete app to find out. The first step in the contest (besides joining the Intel AppUp developer programme) is to submit an abstract for your app idea that includes a detailed description of the application, artwork, wireframes, and any additional information that will help demonstrate why your app should be selected.

Six Winners

The developers with the top six abstracts will then be asked to develop their app. The best part: all six developers will win at least $8,000 once the programme validates their completed app. The best of these apps will win $15,000 and receive additional exposure through promotions by Dixons and Intel AppUp.

Remember the deadline for abstracts is December 15, so start thinking about how to engage uses with products from these electronics and appliance retailers today.
