Need for Speed reboot sold 417k in US during November
Hot Pursuit performs well but boxed EA sales drop 25% year-on-year
Electronic Arts' reboot of the Need for Speed series, Hot Pursuit, sold 417,000 units in the US during November.
The title was developed by Burnout team Criterion and received very positive praise when released in the middle of last month - NPD data shows the game was the seventh best seller during a month dominated by Call of Duty: Black Ops.
But according to analyst firm Cowan & Company, the strong performance of Hot Pursuit wasn't enough to lift boxed sales across Electronic Arts during November, with total sales down 25 per cent for the publisher.
Activision Blizzard sales were up 14 per cent on the same period last year, Take-Two up 2 per cent and THQ up 29 per cent, with uDraw selling 190,000 units in November.
Overall software sales in the US were up 3 per cent during November, helping to reverse a seven month slump in the region.

Just as a side note, for anyone in the UK interested in NFS: Hot Pursuit, Gameplay are selling the vanilla and limited editions on PS360 for £23 at the moment. An utter bargain.
I enjoyed the demo and have been very impressed by the reviews, but I'm terrible at 'completing' racing games so am trying to resist buying it until I've finished either Burnout Paradise or MotorStorm: PR.
