Codemasters seeking damages over Jumpgate delay

Publisher files complaint against Gazillion and NetDevil

UK publisher Codemasters has filed a complaint and is seeking damages from Gazillion and its in-house studio NetDevil for delays to the game Jumpgate: Evolution.

According to court filings, NetDevil and Gazillion failed to meet contractual obligations that stipulated the massively multiplayer online game would launch before February 24, 2009. Codemasters signed on to publish the game in January 2008.

The publisher is seeking a $1.4 million repayment of development costs to NetDevil, as well as compensation for the costs of setting up and running servers, community and websites for the European version of the game, along with internal QA and production costs.

"Codemasters has filed a Complaint with the federal court in San Francisco against Gazillion and NetDevil," confirmed the company.

"On the advice of Codemasters' US attorneys, Codemasters has no further comment at this time."
