Terry Gilliam lends a hand for Facebook game

Social games company Zattikka has acquired the rights to create a game based on comedy troupe Monty Python's Flying Circus.

With the involvement of animator and film director Terry Gilliam, the title is due for Facebook and other websites.

"Monty Python is one of the most iconic comedy licenses around, but there has been no new material for over 20 years," commented Tim Cheney, CEO.

"By acquiring these rights we will be transporting Monty Python into the 21st Century, with a totally new experience for their unique comedy that will delight old and new fans alike."

Earlier this year Zattikka raised $5.5 million in funding from parent company Expedite 5.

It'll be interesting to see how this turns out..never would have imagined a Monty Python game.

A little research shows this would be the fourth Monty Python game outing. They had two "interative multimedia" outings during the whole PC/CD-Rom boom, and an 8-bit platformer before then.

It'll be interesting to see how the ethos of Monty Python is represented by game designers. Can you even say that there's a single, particular "ethos" to Monty Python?

Actually Kingman, there was a Monty Python game released in 1996 for PC. It was an adventure game, I remember it well ... hated the part where you had to throw the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch at the killer rabbit. Think there was another game released later 'MP's Complete Waste of Time' but never played it.

If there's a stoning or a flinging a cow over the castle wall mini game I'll be happy :)
