Microsoft's latest Fable game has shot straight to the head of the UK software charts, knocking last week's champ Fallout: New Vegas down to third place.

In its third week on sale, EA's Medal of Honor has slumped to sixth place, overtaken by Ubisoft's Wii title Just Dance 2 and a new entry in the shape of LucasArts' Force Unleashed sequel.

The only other new entry comes from the latest in THQ's long-running WWE wrestling series, although EA's belated release of console adaptations of PC hit The Sims 3 arguably constitutes a new arrival in ninth place.

While EA may be lamenting the performance of Medal of Honor, its latest FIFA continues to perform well - rising back up to second place.

But despite enormous critical acclaim, the EA-distributed Rock Band 3 entered the charts at just 26th position.

To be fair, I doubt EA is lamenting the performance of Medal of Honor - it's done very well really, and the UK charts are very volatile at the moment, with most games staying at or near the top for very short periods.

Elsewhere, it's a shame to see a new games Vanquish and Enslaved dropping down the chart comparatively quickly. It also seems a little ironic that DJ Hero 2 and Rock Band 3 might just be the best music games ever, and yet their impact on the chart is negligible.

I have to say that I havent bought any of them yet as I simply cant decide....defiantely 2 many out in a 2 week period...I played Vanquish at the Eurogamer Expo and have to say it played really well... so its a shame it didnt do that well I cant say it seemed that well supported on the advertising front. I will buy Fall out first as you get so much play time for your cash.....

I'm pleased for Fable 3. It's a bit slow to start, but is getting really fun now.

Shame about Rock Band 3 and Vanquish. Hopefully word of mouth will give them a boost - both great games.

There are just too many games now, still need to get Castlevania, Vanquish and RB3, but those will have to wait until later and not this month anymore since there is still AC Brotherhood on the to get list and still New Vegas to finish and just finished Enslaved. Maybe December depending if GT5 is released or not and January and February does not look any less packed with Killzone 3, Portal 2 and Mass Effect 2 for PS3 just to name a few. The releases could be spaced out a bit better so people can actually afford all the good games and have time to play them. Especially like Enslaved, Vanquishe and Castlevania having the release this time of the year is not a very wise decision especially for the first two that are new IP`s with no following fan base.
