Fable III promotional iPhone title Kingmaker has attracted 60,000 users so far, publisher Microsoft has revealed.

The Four Square-like social game, developed by mobile studio Grapple, involves the planting of virtual flags at real world locations, in a race for points between Royal and Rebel player factions.

Over a million virtual flags have been deployed since launch earlier this month, earning the game's players over 64 million in in-game gold - which can later be used in Fable III itself.

Fable III launches next week, while a Windows Phone 7 version of Kingmaker is also promised before the year is out.
