Red console will also come with new Wii Remote Plus

Nintendo is to release a special red Wii unit to celebrate 25 years of Super Mario Bros.

The hardware will retail for ¥20,000 ($240 / £150) when it's released in Japan on November 11, and comes with Super Mario Bros. preinstalled.

The bundle will also feature the new Wii Remote Plus, which is to go on sale in the region separately on the same day.

In the UK, Nintendo has set a release date for Wii game Super Mario All-Stars 25th Anniversary Edition as December 3. The special edition is a compilation of the first three Super Mario Bros. games as well as The Lost Levels, a CD of music and a booklet.
