FarmVille studio leases former Sega building in San Francisco
Social gaming goliath Zynga is to move its US headquarters to new premises in San Francisco, which offers space for 2000 employees.
Zynga's headcount has jumped from 400 to 1200 in the last year, with the 270,000 square foot new office offering space for further expansion. The lease will initially run to seven years.
"As a 15-year San Francisco resident, I value the city's unique ability to attract the combination of top creative and tech talent that enables innovation," said Zynga boss Mark Pincus.
"Our new headquarters will capture our culture of collaboration, creativity and fun."
It's the biggest office lease in the Californian city for half a decade, reports the San Francisco Chronicle.
"Now is the time to invest in this city," said mayor Gavin Newsom when announcing the move at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference last night. "The rents have never been better."
Zynga's office space in the Townsend Center, located on 699 Eighth Street and owned by TMG Partners was formerly Sega's US HQ.
The South of Market area the new premises are located in is currently proving a draw to online successes, with the likes of Twitter, MetaCafe and TechCrunch having relocated there.
