2008 CGS World Championship

Press Release PROVIDED BY GAMES PRESS

– Championship Gaming Series™(CGS), the only worldwide professional gaming league, announced that Sydney Underground and Wuhan Dragon prevailed as the two top finishers at the CGS 2008 Pan-Asia Final, held these past four days at the Wuhan Optics Valley Electronic Sports Stadium, the world’s premiere e-sports training center and professional gaming arena. The winning teams put on a thrilling performance in front of more than 80,000 fans. Sydney Underground and Wuhan Dragon will join other top CGS teams from around the world at the CGS 2008 World Final in Los Angeles this summer to compete for a total prize purse of US $1,000,000.

Exclusive coverage of this year’s 2008 Pan-Asia Final and the upcoming 2008 CGS World Final Championship in Los Angeles will be broadcast on STAR Sports across Asia and Australia. The 2008 CGS World Final will also air via DIRECTV in North America and Latin America, BSkyB in the UK, and Eurosport in 41 countries across continental Europe.

"We were thrilled to see the massive number of fans who turned out this week at our brand-new e-sports training center and arena to support the hometown Wuhan Dragon at our second annual CGS Pan-Asia Final,” said CGS Commissioner Andy Reif. "I know I share the sentiments of the fans of both the Dragon and Sydney Underground when I say that I can’t wait to see how these teams perform when they take on the top teams from the Americas and Europe during our globally-televised CGS 2008 World Final.”

“We put a lot more emphasis on mental preparation this season, so the players approached the stage with newfound confidence and managed to reach their potential as a result,” said Ben “Racs” Thomas, General Manager for Sydney Underground, whose team was undefeated at the 2008 CGS Pan-Asia Final. “All my players are really psyched to travel to L.A. this summer to compete against the world’s best teams.”
