10tacle Studios joins long list of Unreal Engine 3 licensees

Slovakian developer to use UE3 for Elveon RPG, due on PC in 2007 and unveiled in Leipzig.

Slovakian developer 10tacle Studios has licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 for its forthcoming fantasy role-playing games, which is due out on the PC in 2007, and was demonstrated at Game Convention 2005 in Leipzig last week.

"Unreal Engine 3 has already proven to us that it is going produce fantastic results while saving us time and money on this project," said Jürgen Reusswig, managing director. "It not only has fantastic graphics but also is on an advanced development stage which we need for a real next generation project such as Elveon. We are delighted to have found a really strong technology partner in Epic Games."

Epic's vice president Mark Rein added that 10tacle had "impressed from the start" and said his firm was happy to be working with the Slovakian outfit.

Unreal Engine 3 already has many supporters - including both Microsoft and Sony, with the technolgy expected to form the basis of a number of big next-generation properties including Gears of War on Xbox 360 and, thanks to Sony's licensing of the technology, potentially many more on PlayStation 3.

It will also form the basis of the next multiplayer Unreal Tournament first-person shooter for PC.
