Leaving Early Access pushes Bluehole's mega-hit to a new milestone

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has now passed three million concurrent users on Steam, less than ten days after it left Early Access.

Brendan Greene, creative director at Bluehole, celebrated reaching the "amazing milestone" on Twitter, when PUBG set a new record of 3.1 million concurrent Steam players - more than four times the amount of people playing the next most popular game, Dota 2.

PUBG reached two million players in October, at which point it had sold 15 million copies on PC. Less than a month later, it had added another five million sales to that total.

Bluehole's breakout hit launched on the Xbox Game Preview Program on December 12, selling a further one million units in just two days.

When PUBG left Early Access after nine months, Bluehole confirmed that the game had 30 million players across both PC and Xbox.
