According to Sony, more than 617.8 million PlayStation 4 games have been sold through both retail and digital downloads.

PlayStation VR is also performing reasonably well, having sold two million units since its launch in October 2016 - around half-a-million of which were in the last quarter alone - and a total 12.2 million games.

PlayStation has enjoyed a stellar year, shifting more units over Black Friday than in the company's 23-year history, and selling around 20 million consoles in just 12 months.

It's also worth noting that the estimate pre-dates the launch of the Xbox One X which has performed very well since launching last month.
